Squeak, that was the sound of my dog Winkie’s chew toy! She was two months old when we got her and we learned she does not like to be alone. The first time we left her alone it did not end well.

Winkie is a white boxer that is two years old with a black spot on one eye. When she sleeps it looks like she is winking at you. That is why we call her Winkie. She is very loving and likes to sit on the couch next to you. Most afternoons she likes to come outside and run and play with me and my friends.

After Winkie had been with us for about a week we left her home alone for the first time. My family and I went out to eat that night. We had no idea the mess that she would make while we were gone. Although we were only gone for about an hour, she threw up while we were gone. Who knew we would have to buy a new remote. She found the remote to the TV on the table beside the couch. When we returned home we found all of the pieces and buttons in the floor. Several times we left her home alone after that evening and she always found something to tear up. She has eaten plants, hats, flip-flops and glasses. One of her favorite things to get when left alone is dish towels. She likes to take them outside and play with them. We have learned that if we leave the TV on she is less likely to tear things up. For some reason, she likes to sit on the couch and watch TV. Winkie will also go to sleep with the TV on at night or while we are away. Now that she is getting bigger she does not chew as much stuff up as she used to. She has learned that we will return soon and play with her. Winkie has a lot of toys that keep her from chewing other stuff now. She likes to play with ropes and balls. One of her favorite toys is a raccoon that has a water bottle inside. It makes a lot of noise when she chews on it. Now when we leave the house we leave the TV on for her and put the remote up so she cannot get it.
